Fast Rust Task
Rust

Walt: Write something that is about rust.
Task
Work on this Doc together with a partner.

What 3 ingredients are needed for rust to occur.
Iron
Water
oxygen

Write a brief paragraph explaining the rusting process (why rusting occurs)
Metal can rust just by leaving it there. Do you want to know why it has rust? Well we have a new and shiny piece of metal and I do nothing with it. If the sun is hot it can reach the metal and burn the metal and the metal with rust. So that is a chemical change and that is how it rust the steel. 2. The iron surface of the nail reacts

with the oxygen mixed in the

water. It forms iron oxide.

3. Iron oxide reacts with the water.

It forms hydrated iron oxide –

the red stuff we call “rust”.

4. This process continues until

all the iron is eaten up.

How could you prevent something from rusting?
You can paint it with any kind of paint that you have or buy

You can put oil on it to prevent it from rusting

You can also spray on wax to prevent it from also rusting and keep it out of the water out of oxigen if you can and salt so it doesn't rust again

Write 3 sentences explaining something new you’ve learned from this reading.

That how rust can eat steel and rust is also stronger than steel but can crumble if you touch it .And also did you know that rust comes from water that hits the steel it start’s to rust

pseudoscience

Walt: Find and link information across a range of texts

Task
Work on this Doc together with a partner.

What was the author's main message in pseudoscience
She is trying to tell us that the chemicals in the original ingredient has more vitamin c then the product’s that are made and the lie’s on the paper & TV they think it is healthy by the ingredient in the project.

What are some of the differences between scientists and advertisers?
Scientists
Advertisers
They do stuff like figure out what the item produce and other scientific stuff like what happens when you eat chocolate, veggies and all kind’s of stuff you eat and drink.
They hook people in by writing little paragrph’s like “carrrots can make you see in the dark better’’
There project is to show if the advertisers are actully true or just mking up story to hook people in.
And also blackcurrant raw has more vitamin c
And the drink blackcurrant has no vitamin c at all maybe like 3 or 4 vitamin c in it.

Write 3 sentences explaining something new you’ve learned from this reading.

I learnt that eating carrots doesn't make you see in the dark like a bat, also i learnt that blackcurrant raw produces more vitamin c but the drink that they make has no vitamin c at all. And also that some newspapers just lie some say chocolate is good for your head but only cocoa beans are the natural ingredient

My variable reading

Everything about a fair test is right hair showing this photo that i had made to show the world what a real fair test is. These word's are special to a fair test and i'm here to tell YOU what they mean?:
1.A.I.M
This means that what you are trying to find out something about the subject.
2. HYPOTHESIS?
and this is about what your depending of whats gonna happen.
3.INDEPENDENT VARIABLE
what will you change that mite make it better or worse.
4.DEPENDENT VARIABLE
this variable is about measuring the subject.
AND
5.CONTROLLED VARIABLE
This is all about what would YOU!! keep the same.

LOOK BELOW FOR DOC!!

Science Investigation
Fair Testing
Fill out the following table to help you explain the Growing in the dark: Plants and light experiment

Aim - what are you trying to find out?
If the planttation grow’s with or without light...
Hypothesis - what do you think your results will be?
It would probbly not grow without light becouse of heat and light.
Independent Variable - what variable will you change?
Change the time of day that you had fed the plant and changing the original plantation it will never stay the same.
Dependent Variable - what variable will you measure?
Measuring theplants how the growth has been for the last few day’s.
Controlled Variable - what variables will you keep the same?
I would focus on the bigger planttation how rotten or how big...

The students of Room 4 wanted to find out what colour of bird feeders birds preferred. FIll our the table below thinking of which variables you would make independent, dependent and controlled.

Aim - what are you trying to find out?
What color would suit the bird feeder to attract the birds.
Hypothesis - what do you think your results will be?
Blue would probbly be suitible with the blue birds and the green with the green bird’s
Independent Variable - what variable will you change?
The color’s on the bird feeder
Dependent Variable - what variable will you measure?
How big the feeder would be.
Controlled Variable - what variables will you keep the same?
The bird’s.
